Practioners at A Crossroads

The field of Social Services is often described as perpetually at a crossroads, setting the position of practitioners significantly different from many other professions in terms of resources and consistency in learning and development. This disparity is attributed to various reasons, including a lack of resources. Training for SSP in SA must, therefore, reflect the realities of our country. It should incorporate content that is indigenous, empowering practitioners to adopt a developmental work perspective. Our training programs focus on developing skills and competencies - navigating ethical practices within work roles that are subject to competing moral, legal, organizational, and policy demands
